IFG Hadassah Synagogue visit 20 08 17
The Synagogue visit proved very popular and was a great learning experience, the first time for many of the visitors. We were made most welcome and began with a visit to the Holocaust memorial in the main courtyard. Once inside the synagogue Rabbi Friedler was most engaging and generous, enabling us to come up close to see the new Torah scroll, the first to be made entirely in New Zealand. The Rabbi’s answers to the many questions dispelled some myths and gave new depth of understanding of Judaism in general and the worship, teaching and social roles of the synagogue. Rabbi Friedler blew the shofar in conclusion and a great afternoon tea followed with good fellowship shared by all.
